Similarly, I found somatic therapy when life brought to my knees after separating with my long time partner in 2019 and really needed a deeper level of support. I hesitantly turned towards a somatic therapist, and found the client-centered, body based, connective experience incredible, sometimes hard! and truly illuminating and helpful. Even though I had been in the yoga and mindfulness space for a while, it was such a big step for me to go to therapy. The intimacy of someone seeing my pain and struggle was so much for me, and the idea that someone could possibly understand the swirl and conundrum I was in felt emotionally risky. The hope of support outweighed the fear, thank God! And the tools and care I was offered to go slow, learn to get to know what I needed in that space and ask for it, do what felt doable and not push, were all ways I was able to grow a little more familiar with the language of my body, the wisdom of my emotions, and eventually trust that I could come back with a greater self-awareness and connection to myself. I was a client of this Hakomi work for 2 years before I embarked on my 2 year training, and now I am still a client as I also now practice this work that has shaped my being.
I consider engaging in these practices personally one of the most important aspects of what I do professionally. I truly love what I do and am deeply honored to witness my clients as they do the sacred work of personal growth.
In addition to teaching yoga and somatic therapy, I have also led Outdoor Yoga SF for many years, and truly appreciate the gift of being holding a community for many years and doing my best to run a business with integrity and care for everyone involved.
I am humble student of life, the body, nervous system regulation, mother nature, and loving presence. I believe deeply in relational healing, and that everyone is the answer to someone elseโs prayer. By giving ourselves the gift of being seen and known and supported by another, and in turn knowing ourselves more, we come to live in a way that is more authentic, alive and free.
To our healing, wholeness and freedom ๐
I am a Hakomi Somatic Therapy Practitioner, Experienced Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher (E-RYT 500), Reiki and Breathwork Teacher. Cumulatively, I have over two thousand hours of study, and have dedicated much of my life in the last ten years to deepening my practice of these holistic, client-centered healing methods.
I bring holistic approaches to my individual and group work that combine modern research and understanding with age old wisdom traditions. My training is rooted in the foundations of yoga and the Hakomi Psychotherapuetic Method, as well as other modalities that incorporate somatic, trauma-informed and mindfulness-based approaches.
What has truly brought me to this work is witnessing first hand the transformative power of mindfulness, nature based, somatic practices for healing. I found yoga in 2014 and went through my first yoga training a year later, and felt the radical transformation of my attention as I learned to slow down with the tools of breathwork, mindful movement and support of community. It moved me so much that I started Outdoor Yoga SF and have been teaching yoga outside, in studios, and on retreats for the last 9 years.
