Welcome.
I feel privileged to introduce you to a reliable approach to feeling more connected to yourself, to your body, to love and to a sense of freedom through the practice of somatic therapy.
Somatic (body-based) therapy gives you the opportunity to be curious about who you are by better understanding your internal experience. Your body carries wisdom that your mind is still trying to understand. By learning to listen to your body’s signals, sensations, tensions and impulses, you can access a deeper more reliable source of intelligence and intuition.
Our bodies are constantly responding to daily stressors through thoughts and external stimuli, often below the level of our conscious awareness. Somatic therapy helps you recognize these subtle signals before they become overwhelming, teaching you to regulate your nervous system naturally. The result? More ease in your body, more clarity in your mind, and greater capacity to navigate life's challenges.
My approach is rooted in Hakomi, a mindfulness-centered form of somatic psychotherapy. With mindful attention and compassionate support, I help clients attune to the signals of the body, listen and restore the body communication pathway. Hakomi somatic therapy is for anyone seeking deep, lasting change that honors your whole human experience - thoughts, body, emotions, and nervous system.
Who benefits from Hakomi Somatic Therapy?
Who benefits from Hakomi Somatic Therapy?
I work with clients seeking more agency and freedom in their lives. This presents in a multitude of ways—freedom from anxiety, depression, digestive problems, persistent stress, emotional imbalance, dissociation, self-sabatoge, stagnation, and the list goes on. My approach recognizes that true healing embraces the whole person—mind, body, spirit— creating pathways for more complete and lasting transformation.
Feel stuck in familiar patterns of feeling and reacting that never seem to bring satisfaction. You might know “why” you do these patterns, but changing them is elusive.
Feeling troubled about relationships with partners, family, friends, or colleagues.
Feeling stressed and stretched by a life transition (such as marriage, childbirth, moving, etc.) or overwhelmed by a painful loss.
Noticing ways in which unresolved past traumas are still surfacing in day to day life and relationships.
Experiencing a “spiritual emergency” in which existential questions surrounding purpose and identity are at the forefront.
Experience anxiety, overwhelm, or disconnection. Every step of the way here is to honor and support your nervous system. The slow pace and relational connection and some of the best “tools” and in addition we will support your nervous system with regulation techniques.
Are highly sensitive or somatically aware and want a gentle, effective, body-based approach.
Want to use your whole body (body, heart, mind) as a guide for who you are becoming, as a guide for listening to your intuition, and as a place you can trust.
Whether you're in the midst of a life transition, healing journey, or simply wanting to reconnect with yourself — Hakomi offers a safe, tender space to explore what’s ready to emerge.

The somatic work I've been doing with Julie over the last 6 months has truly helped me open to a more whole and healed version of myself. I’ve done a lot of therapy over the years, and I've found that with the Hakomi method and Julie's approach, I can more easily understand what emotions I’m feeling, and how to work with them. In a typical session, Julie guides me through really being with what's present like fear and stress, and then offers ways to relate with that through connecting with my body, and actionable ways to experiment with how I can relate to myself that help me get out of my overthinking mind. This has not only been stress relieving but has also lead to some real insight. I’ve also found our work to be incredibly grounding. Julie’s genuine and connected presence is nourishing on its own, and the methodology is highly effective in addressing both short-term challenges and long-term goals. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with Julie and highly recommend her to anyone looking to heal, grow, and thrive. - V.
I've had the privilege of working with Julie as my Hakomi practitioner for just six weeks so far, and I can say already that it has been a truly a transformative experience. Julie's gentle approach immediately put me at ease, creating a safe space for exploration and healing. Her deep understanding and informative insights into the Hakomi technique enriched each session, allowing me to gain a better understanding of myself and my experiences.
One of Julie's greatest strengths is her ability to provide insightful guidance, helping me to explore my anxiety from a somatic perspective. Through her skillful facilitation, I was able to uncover underlying patterns and gain valuable insights into my own emotional landscape.
Overall, Julie's compassionate presence and expertise as a Hakomi practitioner have been invaluable on my journey towards greater self-awareness and healing. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking support in navigating life's challenges with mindfulness and compassion. It is truly an empowering, inspired way to connect with oneself and I look forward to deepening in this work.

The Process

This is a 15 minute call to get to know you and for you to get a sense of me and this work. If you want to continue, I’ll share an intake form, logistics for our meetings and we’ll set up our first session.
Our work together may look like traditional therapy, where we sit face to face, in person or on zoom and talk. However it is not traditional talk therapy. We begin with a checkin on how you’re arriving, we do a grounding/ resourcing exercise, and then we move into the somatic work.
The first session(s) can feel daunting in not knowing what to expect. It’s my utmost priority for you to know that we will move slowly, with care and curiosity, checking in frequently. This is both the style of Hakomi, and how I work. The purpose of the first session(s) is to create a sense of safety, connection, and support through a way of relating that feels honest and also nourishing. I honor and hold that by time you may be seeking out support, you may want results quickly. And the most effective way I have found is to build our connection, and your nervous system capacity to feel supported, to create space to feel, pause as needed, and follow your body’s natural impulses to gain new and real insight.
I know how important it is to find the right practitioner. If for any reason this doesn’t feel like a good fit, I’m happy to share resources to other practitioners.
My recommendation in starting with somatic work is to give it time. Learning the language of the body can take time, and in my experience really only happens at a deep level with support. Once new imprints are made and experiences are had, more and more comes online. Again, however, time is supportive. There is no length of time required, and, I am confident that 3-6 months of meeting weekly will give you a much clearer sense of what’s possible. You may feel really satisfied after that amount of time, and you may want to keep going for a few years.
I meet with clients on a weekly basis for 70 minute sessions, with 10 minutes at the end to debrief. (60+10). I believe growth comes from consistency and building of connection with yourself and me.
I work with people in series of 8 sessions, and at sliding scale rates from $75 - 185 / session. My “base rate” is $130, and I ask clients to contribute at the highest rate you are able, as I know the financial terrian today for many of us is vast. I occasionally work with clients below this rate, on a need basis.
Time & Energy: You may feel tired or exhilarated following therapy, so setting aside time after can helpful. Time is always helpful for processing, along with journaling or going for a walk.
